Generation Green News -Jennifer A

December 19, 2011

For those of you involved in environmental initiatives in your community, I bet you can identify with me when I say that the communication of ideas is a MAJOR problem. As a student, it seemed necessary to find a way to share the amazing programs and events being introduced all over my district. This meant that when Victoria, a past graduate from a local high school, emailed me with a request to become the co-editor-in-chief of a district-wide electronic environmental newsletter, I jumped at the chance.

Over the course of the next couple of months, we worked together to gather a willing group of student from the district Student Leadership Council, instructed them on how to to acquire or produce articles, edited the writing we received and combined it all into a full 6-page newsletter.

Whether or not you are from our district, I encourage you to take a peek at Generation Green, as it is guaranteed to open your eyes to a new approach, a new issue, or just an event to check out!

You know what this publication should have? A column by someone with a different viewpoint on Green issues. It would give it a sense of legitimacy, rather than one sided bias.

    In other news, good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion Liam…that sounds like a really good idea! By the way, I don’t know if you’ve read the newsletter, as there was supposed to be a link, but for now, here it is.
